Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) is a functional disorder which causes diverse symptoms. About 1 in 5 people living in the United States and United Kingdom is diagnosed to have irritable bowel syndrome at some stages in life. IBS is twice as common in men as well as in women across the globe.

Discomfort and pain can occur in diverse parts of the abdomen. The pain generally comes and then goes. The length of every bout of pain may change wholly. One the other hand the severity of pain may vary from mild to severe, but vary from one person to the other and also from time to time in the same person. The discomfort and pain eases when you pass stools hollister outlet , motions, or wind. Most people with the irritable bowel syndrome describe the pain as a colic or spasm.
Bloating:
Swelling and bloating of abdomen can also develop from time to time. And you may pass more wind than normal.
Motions, Feces or Stools:
When some people have bouts of constipation, there are others who experience bouts of diarrhea. Both of which can be the IBS symptoms. Some people have bouts of diarrhea which can also alternate with the bouts of constipation. At times, the stools appear to be pellet like and small and sometimes stools become ribbony and watery. Mucus can be mixed with stools.
A change in the frequency of the bowel movements, a change in the appearance of the bowel movements and inability or difficulty to pass the stool can be the other certain IBS symptoms. A person can even feel an urgency to go to the toilet immediately. That can be several times a day after getting up in the morning. This can also be the case after or before the breakfast. You can even experience uneasiness or the feeling of not emptying rectum after going to toilet.
Other Symptoms:
The other IBS symptoms which may occur at times include backache, tiredness, poor appetite, belching, headache, nausea, feeling full, heartburn and irritable bladder. Few people even have certain irregular symptoms, while others usually have some unpleasant symptoms for extended periods of time. Now many people even fall somewhere in between, experiencing the occasional explode of the symptoms from time to time.
Many physicians or doctors group people with irritable bowel syndrome into 3 categories.
Category 1:
This category includes people with abdominal discomfort or pain, and other IBS symptoms like constipation and bloating.
Category 2:
This category includes those people with abdominal discomfort and pain as well as other mild symptoms like urgency to go to the toilet and diarrhea as well.
Category 3:
This includes those who usually suffer IBS symptoms which alternate between diarrhea and constipation.
But in practice, most people can’t be grouped into any particular category as substantial overlapping takes place from time to time. But you must note that passing blood is not an IBS symptom, but you must let your doctor know if you happen to pass blood.
